Perfumes of Marly
In the 18th century, France was a leader in the world of fragrances through Grasse and Paris.
Horses were the pride and glory of Versailles.
The court of Louis XV was also called the "PERFUME COURT". The king requested a different scent each day for his apartment and scented fragrances emanated from all the fountains of the palace.
In 1743, in memory of his great-grandfather Louis XIV, the king commissioned the then most famous sculptor Guillaume Cousteau to create a work of art that would interpret the beauty, elegance and dignity of horses.
This is how the work of art "LES CHEVEAUX DE MARLY" was created in the Marly Castle, near Versailles. "LES CHEVEAUX DE MARLY" now opens France's most famous boulevard - the Champs-Elysees and is, as then as now, a passionate declaration of love to one of the most beautiful creatures: the horse.
Parfums de Marly recreated the greatest perfume creations of the time, created in honor of the most extraordinary horses on the orders of King Louis XV and considered the fragrances of the 18th century.
